Tigeropolis – Caught in the Trap

Disclaimer:  I received a free copy of this book in order to review it, however, the review is my honest opinion. Tigeropolis – Caught in the Trap R D Dikstra has produced a series of novels about a family of vegetarian Tigers living in the foothills of the Himalayas and...

Living with blindness

Being born blind isn't as bad as some people think because when you are born blind, you don't know any different, it's just part of me. It's different for those who are born sighted and lose their sight later in life as it takes lots of adjustments for them to get used to it. They have to learn to do everything in the dark and that takes courage and determination.

Babies – #Blogtober2017 [02]

Following on from “All About Me” yesterday.  I wanted to share a few more things you don’t know about me. Babies – Getting Broody I was not one of those women who got broody when other people had children.  I quite liked other people’s babies but not enough to want...

What impact do teachers have?

As my youngest two start secondary school, I sit here hoping they get amazing teachers.  If not in every subject, at least in a few.  Good teachers, the ones who love what they do, care about the kids and love seeing kids “get it” are such a huge asset to...

Calm after the Chaos – Back to School

It’s that time of year, relief and hoorays mixed with a tinge of sadness, a huge serving of stress and anxiety and a side helping of “why did I leave the new shoe purchases so late – again”?  The time of year when we think about the calm. The Calm of...

What do our MPs teach our children?

Let’s chat today about our beloved Members of Parliament, our MPs, the adults we elect to represent us within Parliament.   Do they provide us with good examples of behaviour to share with our children or do they provide us just with examples of how not to behave? I recently...

What I love about the SEND Minefield

Previously, I had a rant about the things that really p*ss me off in the world of SEND but today, in order to start the holidays for me with a more positive focus, I am writing about the things I love about life in the SEND Minefield.  Yes there are...

“Oh Bless Him” – “Oh Bugger Off”

It’s not often I do a ranty style post but I have had one of those weeks when I am just proud that I have managed to get out of bed each day and even prouder that I have actually managed to get dressed! So here goes. As you know, my...

Our Family Agreement

As a mum, along with the million other hats I wear, I rarely get time to just chill and do nothing. In Summer, we’re fortunate enough to live quite near the beach so I will drive down there and recharge my batteries when the kids are at school but during...

Is this it forever Mum? Will I always be blind?

Have you, as a parent, ever sat down and thought “is this it?”  Have you ever sat in despair wondering if it would ever get better? It’s heart breaking and it hurts but it is nowhere near as painful as hearing your child say those words to you. It has...

Sometimes just coping is enough

There are times in this journey when I worry that all I am doing is “just coping”.  I feel as if just coping is not good enough and I should be doing better. Often, I am angry about the lack of support available but sometimes I am angry at myself....
